Signed card imprinted with a message from the British Prime Minister
Printed Card Signed in Ink: "Harold Wilson" as Prime Minister, 4½x3½. Printed card with Prime Minister's seal and address of 10 Downing Street and printed text: "The Prime Minister thanks you for your kind message." Accompanied by transmittal letter dated 1968 December 23 and by mailing envelope, postmarked Washington, D.C., December 30, 1968, but with printed return address of 10 Downing Street on reverse flap. James Harold Wilson (1916-1995) was British Prime Minister from 1964-1970 and 1974-1976. Wilson, who entered Parliament in 1945, became a member of the Cabinet as President of the Board of Trade (1947-1951). During the 1950s, he was the Labour Party's spokesman for foreign affairs and finance, although his terms as Prime Minister were hampered by financial woes. In 1983, Wilson was made a life peer by Queen Elizabeth II and entered the House of Lords. Staple holes at left edge. Creased in lower right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
