Imprinted greeting above signature: "The Prime Minister/thanks you for your/kind message." James Harold Wilson (1916-1995) was British Prime Minister from 1964-1970 and 1974-1976. Wilson, who entered Parliament in 1945, became a member of the Cabinet as President of the Board of Trade (1947-1951). During the 1950s, he was the Labour Party's spokesman for foreign affairs and finance, although his terms as Prime Minister were hampered by financial woes. In 1983, Wilson was made a life peer by Queen Elizabeth II and entered the House of Lords. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
