Her handwritten sentiment on a blank card
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Greetings of the season/Indira Gandhi", 16x6 unfolded. Signed inside a folded, blank card. Indira Gandhi (1917-1984), daughter of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, served as Prime Minister from January 19, 1966 to March 24, 1977 and from January 14, 1980 to October 31, 1984, when she was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards. They did so to avenge the storming of the Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar. Gandhi ordered the storming in June because of terrorist activity. Her aunt, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit (1900-1990), served as the first woman President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1953 to 1954. In 1977, Madame Pandit campaigned successfully against her niece's political party because she opposed the way it had restricted freedom in India. Fine condition.
