PRINCE ERIK/DENMARK

The Danish and Icelandic prince pens his signature on this 2½x1 piece of paper, in iron gall ink

Signature: “Erik. 1 July 1929” in iron gall ink. 2½x1. Prince Erik, Count of Rosenborg (1890-1950) was a Danish and Iceland prince who was born Erick Frederik Christian Alexander to Prince Valdemar of Denmark and Princess Marie of Orleans. He renounced his rights to the throne when he decided to marry Lois Frances Booth, a commoner; nevertheless, he took the title “Prince Erik Count of Rosenborg” with the king's permission, and also retained his right to the style of Highness, while forfeiting that of Royal Highness.
