PRINCE RAINIER III (MONACO) - PICTURE POST CARD SIGNED - HFSID 224261
Price: $280.00
PRINCE RAINIER OF MONACO
He signs a 4x6 postcard photo of himself shown with his three
children and Princess Caroline's now deceased first husband, Stefano
Casirighi.
Postcard Photograph signed: "Rainier Prince de Monaco". Color,
4x6. Shown with his heir, Prince Albert; his daughter's Princesses Caroline and
Stephanie; and Stefano Casirighi, Princess Caroline's husband. Prince Rainier
III of Monaco, who assumed the throne in 1949, was Europe's longest reigning
monarch when he died on April 6, 2005 at age 81. Known as "the builder
prince," Rainier diversified Monaco's economy from gambling and tourism by
attracting high tech industry. He secured the Principality's admission to the
United Nations in 1993. However, the Prince is best remembered worldwide for
his 1956 marriage to Academy Award winning American actress Grace Kelly.
Princess Rainier and Princess Grace had three children before her death in an
automobile accident in 1982. Prince Albert succeeded his father on the
throne. Since Albert is unmarried and childless, a 2002 succession law provided
that the ruling line of the Grimaldi family, which has ruled Monaco since 1297,
can continue through the children of Albert's sisters. Stefano Casirighi was
killed in a boat race in 1990 and Princess Caroline has remarried (to Prince
Ernst of Hanover), but her son Andrea Casirighi is currently next in line to the
throne of Monaco. Fine condition.
