PRINCE RAINIER OF MONACO
Signed color postcard photo, posed with the Princess and their three children
Postcard Photograph signed: "Rainier Prince de Monaco". Color, 4x6. Shown with Princess Grace and their three children. Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who assumed the throne in 1949, was Europe's longest reigning monarch when he died on April 6, 2005 at age 81. Known as "the builder prince," Rainier diversified Monaco's economy from gambling and tourism by attracting high tech industry. He secured the Principality's admission to the United Nations in 1993. However, the Prince is best remembered worldwide for his 1956 marriage to Academy Award-winning American actress Grace Kelly. Princess Rainier and Princess Grace had three children before her death in an automobile accident in 1982. Prince Albert succeeded his father on the throne. Since Albert is unmarried and childless, a 2002 succession law provided that the ruling line of the Grimaldi family, which has ruled Monaco since 1297, can continue through the children of Albert's sisters, Princesses Caroline and Stephanie. Mounting tape remnants on verso (no show-through). Fine condition.
