In full: “It was very kind of you to send me those photographs of Chris + I think they are quite excellent + Cecil could not have done/ better! Thank you very much. Didn't you take many others/apart from Chris? I would love to see them too (nothing like asking!)/ Give Jules my love + thank you for asking me to dine one night-Can I ring sometime as there is rather a lot coming on + perhaps I could manage a date later on./ Again so many thanks./ Very sincerely yrs”. Princess Marina (1906-1968) of Greece and Denmark became the Duchess of Kent through her marriage to Prince George, Duke of Kent. The couple had three children, the last of which was born about a month before Prince George's death. Active in a wide range of organizations and causes, the princess showed a great degree of dedication in carrying out her royal duties. In addition, for 26 years, she was the president of the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. She also served President of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution from 1943 until her death. Moreover, she functioned as the first Chancellor of the University of Kent at Canterbury from 1963 until her death. Irregularly cut. Affixed to a similarly-sized and irregularly cut piece of paper. Cut through below 3rd line of letter, two pieces attached by a piece of tape. Surface worn from a previous mounting. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
