QUEENIE LEONARD
Extremely rare note from the British actor to disc jockey George Sanders: "It was wonderful fun white it lasted!"
Autograph note signed: "Queenie Leonard", and one unknown signature on verso, in blue ink, 7¾x5. In full: "George, It was wonderful fun while it lasted! Lots of luck + a happy New Year-". British character actress Queenie Leonard (1905-2002) first began acting on stage in local productions, and made her film debut in 1931 with Who Killed Doc Robin?. She continued to find success in film for the next 30 plus years, appearing in films such as Hatari! (1962) and And Then There Were None (1945). She would also lend her voice to a number of Disney animations, most popularly Alice in Wonderland (1951) and 101 Dalmatians (1961). She retired from acting in 1966, and lived out the rest of her life rather quietly. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Stain above 'George' in note. Frayed and torn on left edge. Toned, esp. towards right margin. Light surface creases. Newspaper clipping attached on verso. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso show through to front. Otherwise, fine condition.
