He pens a note for a fan on this FDC honoring the Barrymores, dated in 1982
Autograph Note Signed: "Best Wishes/to Robert Polk/Aug 19/82/Quinn Martin". With pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. 6¼x3½. First day cover honoring the Barrymores with b/w cachet on left. Postmarked New York City, June 8, 1982. With one color 20¢ Barrymores stamp affixed. FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Martin (1922-1987, born Martin Cohn in New York City), is an Emmy-nominated American TV producer. Martin headed QM Productions, which dominated the action-adventure genre on TV and, reportedly, was responsible at one point for more hours of programming during the week than any other independent production company. He helped to develop the one-hour program format -including the trick of breaking to commercial at a cliffhanger, ensuring that the audience would stay tuned. Martin has executive producer credits for such series as The Untouchables, The Fugitive, The F. B. I., Cannon (for which he shared an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Continuing Drama Series) and The Streets of San Francisco (for which he shared three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series). Lightly toned, otherwise in fine condition.
