CHUCK HENNINGSEN & R. C. GORMAN
Both sign a poster promoting a book signing: Henningsen's photos of Gorman.
Poster signed: "R.C. Gorman", "Chuck Henningsen", 24x18 overall, image 18¾x14 (one surface). Captioned: "A Collection of Photographs by Chuck Henningsen from R. C. Gorman - a Portrait." The poster announces a "gala book signing celebration" at the Millicent Rogers in Taos, New Mexico, September 3, 1983. Taos artist CHUCK HENNINGSEN was inspired by Ansel Adams to leave a job in hi tech industry and begin nature photography. Then he moved on to photographing other artists, beginning with R. C. Gorman. He now combines photography with his knowledge of computer graphics, getting beyond the realism of photos by computer manipulation of multiple images on one surface. R. C. GORMAN (1931-2005) has been called "the Picasso of American Indian Art" for his oil pastels, drawings, lithographs and silk screens that usually featuring Navajo women in flowing dresses. He also made pottery pieces. After 1968, Gorman, who is also known for his bronzes, was based in Taos, New Mexico, where he owned the R.C. Gorman Navajo Gallery. Lightly soiled at blank margins. Otherwise, fine condition.
