Typed Letter Signed: “R. Hassell” 1p, 6x5¼ at widest points. May 18, 1970. Affixed to a 6½x9½ sheet also containing clipped pieces featuring the letterhead and address of Brighton Public Libraries. Written on official letterhead of the Brighton Public Libraries. Written to “Dear Mr. Croxford”. In full:Thank you for your letter  of the 10th May/ Lady Conyngham's address in Brighton in George IV's time was 8 Marlborough Row, which is now North Gate House, Administrative office of the Royal Pavilion and Public Libraries and Museums/ In 1832 it was renovated in Oriental style and occupied by Major General Sir Herbert Taylor/ As the Royal Pavilion is a separate department from the Public Library, I am passing your letter on to them, and they will be answering you enquiry about copies of the Goerge IV Mrs. Fitzherbert - Isabella Pigot letters direct. They will, no doubt, be very interested in the Conyngham letter./ I was most interest to see the notes on you World War II material there is a great interest in this nowadays, as we know from constant request of our readers, using the World War II materials we have here./ Thank you again for your interesting letter.R. Hassell was the chief assistant at the Brighton Public Libraries circa 1970. He headed up the Lending Services department. Lightly toned. Letter has been clipped and reassembled. Several vertical and horizontal folds, one of which touches signatures. Moderate creasing and rippling throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
