Laserdisc cover for The Railway Station Man, signed by stars Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie
Laserdisc cover signed "Donald/Sutherland" and "Julie Christie", both in blue ink. Color, 12¼x12¼. Disc not included. Disc ©1993 Turner Pictures, Inc., content ©1992 1993 Turner Pictures, Inc. Sutherland and Christie both starred in 1992's The Railway Station Man, an adaptation of Jennifer Johnston's novel of the same name. Christie was an Irish woman whose husband is killed by the IRA and Sutherland is a mysterious American man with whom she falls in love. Tall, lanky and bearing perhaps the most enjoyably sinister face this side of Vincent Price, SUTHERLAND, born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1935, made a name for himself in some of the most influential films of the 1970s and early 1980s. By the early 1970s, Sutherland had become something of a bona fide star, thanks to lead roles in films like Start the Revolution without Me and M*A*S*H (both 1970). Sutherland, who has made over 100 films over his career, has also starred in such films as The Dirty Dozen (1967), Klute (1971), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Ordinary People (1980), Max Dugan Returns (1983), Backdraft (1991), Space Cowboys (2000), The Italian Job (2003), Cold Mountain (2003) and Pride & Prejudice (2005). He has also appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies, guest starred on several TV series and had regular roles as Nathan Templeton on Commander In Chief (2005-2006) and as Tripp Darling in Dirty Sexy Money (2007). His five children include actors Keifer and Rossif Sutherland and TV post-production supervisor Rachel, Keifer's twin sister. CHRISTIE, born in Chabua, Assam, India in 1941, is an English actress who made her film debut in a small role in Crooks Anonymous (1963). She starred in three more films before gaining critical acclaim for Darling (1965), a poignant time capsule about a stylishly amoral sexual butterfly. Christie won numerous awards for Darling, not the least of which were the British Film Academy Award and the American Oscar. Subsequent films include: Doctor Zhivago (1965), Fahrenheit 451 (1967) and Far From the Madding Crowd (1967). She hooked up with Warren Beatty and starred with him in three major films of the 1970s: McCabe and Mrs. Miller (1971), Shampoo (1975) and Heaven Can Wait (1978). Harry Potter fans may recognize her as Madame Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004). Lightly scuffed and creased. Rounded corners. Adhesive remnants on verso.
