The two actors sign this photo of a scene from their Academy Award winning movie,
Rain Man (1988)
Photograph signed: "Tom Cruise" and "D. Hoffman", in blue ink, color, 10x8. Rain Main
(1988) starred Tom Cruise as Charlie Babbit and Dustin Hoffman as his autistic brother,
Raymond Babbit. The movie earned Hoffman his second Oscar and also won Academy
Awards for Best Picture, Director and Original Screenplay. Actor TOM CRUISE (b.1962)
has found success as both an action hero (Top Gun and the Mission Impossible films, 1996,
2000, 2006) and in serious dramatic roles (Born On the Fourth of July, 1989, nomination for
the Best Actor Academy Award) and Magnolia (1999). Other popular Cruise films include
Risky Business (1983), The Color of Money (1986), Rain Man (1988), Jerry Maguire
(1996, Best Actor Oscar nomination), Minority Report (2002) and War of the Worlds
(2005). Cruise was married to actresses Mimi Rogers (1987-1990) Nicole Kidman
(1990-2001), and Katie Holmes (2006-2012). The emergence of DUSTIN HOFFMAN
(b.1937) in the late 1960s heralded the arrival of a new era of Hollywood stardom.
Diminutive, wiry and unassuming, he was anything but the usual matinee idol. However, he
quickly distinguished himself among the most popular and celebrated screen performers of his
generation in virtue of his versatile portrayals of antiheroes and vulnerable characters. He has
won two Academy Awards for Best Actor (Kramer vs. Kramer, 1980, and Rain Man,
1989) in addition to earning five Oscar nominations (The Graduate, 1968; Midnight
Cowboy, 1970; Lenny, 1975; Tootsie, 1983; and, Wag the Dog, 1998). Recently, Hoffman
was seen as Ben Stiller's (Greg Focker's) father in Meet the Fockers (2004), the sequel to the
highly successful Meet the Parents (2000). Fine condition.
