Photograph signed: "Ralph Bellamy", in black ink. Sepia, 10x8.
Shown with Jane Powell and Constance Moore in a still from Delightfully
Dangerous (1945). Ralph Bellamy (1904-1991) was nominated for
an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor for The Awful Truth (1937). He won a
Best Actor Tony for Sunrise at Campobello (1958), reprising his role
as FDR in the film version two years later. (He portrayed Franklin Roosevelt
again in the TV miniseries The Winds of War (1983). In 1986, Bellamy
received an honorary Oscar "for his unique artistry and his distinguished
service to the profession of acting." Shown here is the third of four films
in which Bellamy portrayed famed sleuth Ellery Queen. (Margaret Lindsay,
shown with him, played mystery writer Nikki Porter in all four of these, plus
three more films featuring William Gargan as Queen). Corners creased and
slightly rounded. Small nicks at right edge. Minor surface creases. Lightly
bowed. Otherwise, fine condition.
