RALPH STEADMAN
Small 8x5½ b/w reproduction of artist Ralph Steadman's Wool and
Water, signed and dated in 1986. Steadman is famous for his satirical and
grotesque caricatures and his friendship with Gonzo journalist Hunter S.
Thompson.

Steadman, born in 1936, co-founded "Gonzo" journalism with Hunter S.
Thompson, for whom he illustrated Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. As
an artist, Steadman is famous for his splatter art and calligraphy and for
his satirical and grotesque caricatures. Thompson was the subject of one of
his caricatures, as were such other literary figures as William Shakespeare,
Mark Twain and T. S. Eliot. Lightly toned and creased. Lightly soiled with black
ink marks on verso (no show-through). Otherwise in fine
condition.
