RAMON NOVARRO. Photograph inscribed and signed: "Para Cinearte/Saudade!/Ramón Novarro". Sepia, 6¾x8¼. Novarro (1899-1968) was a big star of silent films in the 1920s who made a successful transition into talkies in the next decade. He made occasional film and TV appearances until his brutal murder. Billed as "the next Valentino", Novarro played the title role in Ben Hur (1925). Novarro spoke disparagingly about most of the parts he was offered in the talking era, but he remained active, making frequent TV guest appearances. He was tortured to death in his Hollywood Hills home by two drifters who believed he hoarded money there. "Cinearte" was a Brazilian movie magazine. Left and top borders trimmed off. Slightly soiled. Light corner creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
