RAND BROOKS
Scarlett O'Hara's first husband in Gone with the Wind is shown
experiencing more bad luck: threatened by Johnny Mack Brown in a movie still
from Man From the Black Hills.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Allan -/Best always/Rand
Brooks/6/18/76". B/w, 10x8. Shown with Johnny Mack Brown in a still from
Man From the Black Hills (1952). Actor Rand Brooks (1918-2003)
is best known for playing Charles Hamilton, the ill-fated first husband of
Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind (1939). He had made his film
debut the previous year in Love Finds Andy Hardy, and his other films
include Northwest Passage, The Son of Monte Cristo, Niagara
Falls, Joan of Arc, The Cimarron Kid, To Hell and Back
and Requiem for a Gunfighter. Brooks, who co-starred as Hopalong
Cassidy's sidekick, Lucky Jenkins, in 12 films, also played Corporal
Boone on television's The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin and guest starred
on many TV series. His first wife was Stan Laurel's daughter, Lois, with
whom he ran a private paramedic service (1966-1995). In Man From the Black
Hills, Brooks plays a man posing as the son of a blind, wealthy mine owner,
unmasked of course by Johnny Mack Brown. Corners and edges lightly creased.
Lightly toned. Signature lightly beaded but legible. Fine condition.
