Inscribed photograph signed: "To/Clint/my Pal/Monte Hale", "Rand
Brooks", Color 6x4. One of Republic Pictures' singing cowboys,
MONTE HALE (1919-2009), had supporting roles in Westerns starring
Roy Rogers and Sunset Carson before starring in his own series of films in the
late 1940s. Later he toured with the band of singing cowboy composer Ray
Whitley. He's a member of the Western Music Association Hall of Fame.
Actor RAND BROOKS (1918-2003) is best known for playing Charles Hamilton, the
ill-fated first husband of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind
(1939). He had made his film debut the previous year in Love Finds Andy
Hardy, and his other films include Northwest Passage, The Son of
Monte Cristo, Niagara Falls, Joan of Arc, The Cimarron
Kid, To Hell and Back and Requiem for a Gunfighter. Brooks,
who co-starred as Hopalong Cassidy's sidekick, Lucky Jenkins, in 12
films, also played Corporal Boone on television's The Adventures of Rin
Tin Tin and guest starred on many TV series. His first wife was Stan
Laurel's daughter, Lois, with whom he ran a private paramedic service
(1966-1995). Corners slightly worn. Brook's signature slightly haloed. Fine
condition.
