Photograph inscribed and signed: "To George --/Wishing you
happiness/Rand Brooks/'Charles'". B/w, 8x10½. Shown as Charles Hamilton,
the ill-fated first husband of Scarlett O'Hara (played by Vivien Leigh, not
signing pictured, who won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role) in
Gone With the Wind (1939). Also pictured are Thomas Mitchell (not
signing), who played Scarlett's father, Gerald O'Hara, and Barbara O'Neil (not
signing), who played his wife, Ellen. Actor Rand Brooks (1918-2003) is
best known for playing Charles Hamilton, the ill-fated first husband of Scarlett
O'Hara in Gone With the Wind (1939). He had made his film debut the
previous year in Love Finds Andy Hardy, and his other films include
Northwest Passage, The Son of Monte Cristo, Niagara Falls,
Joan of Arc, The Cimarron Kid, To Hell and Back and
Requiem for a Gunfighter. Brooks, who co-starred as Hopalong Cassidy's
sidekick, Lucky Jenkins, in 12 films, also played Corporal Boone on
television's The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin and guest starred on many
TV series. His first wife was Stan Laurel's daughter, Lois, with whom he
ran a private paramedic service (1966-1995). Minor surface creases (most not
evident head on). Black mark at lower right margin. Fine
condition.
