Inscribed Photograph signed: "a Pedro A. Diaz/[untranslated French sentiment]/Raoul Jobin". B/w, 5x7. French-Canadian tenor Raoul Jobin (1906-1974) made his professional debut with the Paris Opera in 1930, in the role of Tybalt in Romeo et Juliette. He joined the Metropolitan Opera in 1940, performing frequently in the US during the following decade. Although originally known for his French repertoire, he earned additional fame in Wagner's operas after World War II, even acquiring the nickname "Mr. Lohengrin." He returned to his native Quebec as a teacher, and was awarded the Order of Canada in1967. Signature in poor contrast (still legible). Lightly creased. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
