(1899-1987), the twin brother of artist Moses Soyer, had his first exhibition in
America in 1926, fourteen years after they came to the U.S. from their native
Russia. A social realist, Soyer believed in "painting people...in their
natural context - who belong to their time". Best known for his paintings of
ordinary men and women during the Great Depression, Raphael became known as "The
Dean of American Realism". Fine condition.
