Photograph signed: "Ray Blanton". B/w, 8x10. Leonard Ray Blanton (1930-1996), a Democrat, was a US Representative from Tennessee (1967-1973) and Governor of that State (1975-1979). He was accused of using his office to sell pardons and went to federal prison for selling liquor licenses, but questions were later raised about the propriety of the charges and Blanton always maintained his innocence. After serving his sentence, Blanton ran for Congress in 1988, receiving a mere 7% of the vote. Minor surface scratches. Otherwise, fine condition.
