RAY BRADBURY
Ray Bradbury signs a hardcover copy of his book Green Shadows, White Whale
.
Book signed: "Ray Bradbury" on the title page. His book, Green Shadows, White Whale, 294p, 6x8¾, hardcover. Alfred A. Knopf, New York: 1992. From the jacket notes, in part: "In 1953, Ray Bradbury, then a still relatively obscure writer, was summoned to Ireland to write the screenplay of Moby Dick for the already famous director John Huston. That seven-month sojourn inspired a number of classic Bradbury stories, including 'The Anthem Sprinters,' 'Banshee,' and 'McGillahee's Brat.' Now, in Green Shadows, White Whale, Bradbury merges these and other stories into a larger framework and vividly tells the whole tale...." Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) is the favorite science fiction writer of many readers who don't normally like SF. Among his classic novels - all these became films - are The Martian Chronicles (1950), The Illustrated Man (1951), Fahrenheit 451 (1953) and Something Wicked This Way Comes (1962). His Ray Bradbury Theater ran on TV from 1985 to 1992. The Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated writer won the Science Fiction Writers Association's Grand Master Award (1988) and the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters (2000). In original dust jacket. Fine condition.
