Signed First Day Cover honoring Lillian Gilbreth
First Day Cover signed: "Ray Bradbury", 6½x3½. Also signed "Roberta Borden". FDC honoring Lillian M. Gilbreth, postmarked Edwards Air Force Base, California, January 30, 1992, 40-cent stamp affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) is the favorite science fiction writer of many readers who don't normally like SF. Among his classic novels - all these became films - are The Martian Chronicles (1950), The Illustrated Man (1951), Fahrenheit 451 (1953) and Something Wicked This Way Comes (1962). His Ray Bradbury Theater ran on TV from 1985 to 1992. The Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated writer won the Science Fiction Writers Association's Grand Master Award (1988) and the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters (2000). No information is available on Roberta Borden. Lillian Gilbreth and her husband Frank Gilbreth have two claims to fame: 1) They were noted industrial psychologists and efficiency experts known for their time and motion studies; 2) They were the parents of 12 children, immortalized in the book Cheaper by the Dozen (written by two of those children), and in feature films. Stray red ink mark at upper left margin. Lightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
