day cover honoring the centennial of the telephone with green cachet of
Alexander Graham Bell at left edge. Postmarked Boston, Massachusetts, March
10, 1976. One 13¢ beige-and-purple telephone centennial stamp affixed. FIRST
DAY OF ISSUE. Engineer Dolby (1933-2013) founded Dolby Laboratories in
1965. His innovations in sound include the high-quality cassettes in car
stereos and the multi-channel digital surround sound in movie
theaters. In 1989, Dolby received an Oscar and an Emmy for his important
contributions to motion pictures and television. Lightly toned and stained,
otherwise in fine condition.
