envelope with typed caption below. Ray Lyman Wilbur (1875-1949), a
medical doctor, was Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine
(1911-1916), President of Stanford University (1916-1943) and President
of the American Medical Association (1923-1924). Wilbur was personal
physician to President Warren G. Harding and was at his deathbed 1923 August
2. President Herbert Hoover nominated him to be Secretary of the Interior
on March 5, 1929-he took office the same day and served until March
4, 1933. Soiled and worn. Paper and adhesive residue (previous mounting)
on verso.
