In full: "Thank you for thinking of me at this period and sending that attractive Christmas card and message of good cheer. Faithfully yours." Ray Lyman Wilbur (1875-1949), a medical doctor, was Dean of the Stanford University School of Medicine (1911-1916), President of Stanford University (1916-1943) and President of the American Medical Association (1923-1924). Wilbur was personal physician to President Warren G. Harding and was at his deathbed 1923 August 2. President Herbert Hoover nominated him to be Secretary of the Interior on March 5, 1929-he took office the same day and served until March 4, 1933. Paperclip crease and rust at upper left. Edges toned and creased. Mailing folds. Lightly stained and foxed.
