RAYMOND PAIGE and JOAN EDWARDS
Each has added the name of a popular radio music program on which
they starred: Stage Door Canteen and Your Hit Parade.
Signatures: "[musical notes]/Raymond/Paige/Stage Door
Canteen/Orchestra/[musical notes]" and, on verso, "Your Hit Parade
Girl,/Joan Edwards", 5½x7¼ album leaf. Conductor RAYMOND PAIGE
(1900-1965), who led the Raymond Paige Orchestra, was heard on several radio
programs in the 1930s and 1940s, including Hollywood Hotel
(1934-1938) and Stage Door Canteen (1942-1945). Paige also played
himself in three films: Hollywood Hotel (1937), Hawaii Calls
(1938) and All Star Musical Revue (1945). JOAN EDWARDS
(1919-1981), was a pianist and vocalist for Paul Whiteman before
becoming a fixture on the Your Hit Parade radio series. From
1941-1946, she appeared on the TV version of Your Hit Parade.
Edwards was also a composer and lyricist, penning several popular songs
including "Anytime", and some commercial jingles. Slightly soiled. Torn at right
blank edge from removal from bound book, upper left blank corner chipped off.
