St. Jacques was also seen on the big screen in two other feature films, Cool
Breeze and The Final Comedown. Stage, screen and television actor
Raymond St. Jacques (1930-1990), born James Arthur Johnson, was the first
Black actor to become a regular on a Western series, appearing as cattle
drover Simon Blake on Rawhide from 1965-1966. St. Jacques, who had
made his film debut in 1964 (Black Like Me), appeared in a number
of feature films, including The Comedians (1967),
Madigan (1968), The Green Berets (1968), Cotton Comes to
Harlem (1970), Cuba Crossing (1980), Glory (1989) and
Timebomb (1991), also made a number of made-for-TV movies, and he
was seen as "The Drummer" in the TV miniseries, Roots (1977). St.
Jacques was a versatile and prolific TV actor, appearing in a long list of TV
series, from Westerns to dramas to comedies. Last seen on the small screen on an
episode of MacGyver (1989), he had appeared as Dr. Hooks on seven
episodes of Falcon Crest (1983-1984) and played Charlie Sykes on
Police Story (1973-1975). St. Jacques also appeared in several on
and off-Broadway productions beginning in 1955. The founder of his own
film company, St. Jacques Organization, Inc., in 1974, he also became a
noted Civil Rights activist. Slightly creased at corners. Minor surface
creases (most not evident head on). Overall, fine condition.
