(1919-2020) was already a licensed pilot when he joined the US Navy before Pearl Harbor.
Flying fighter aircraft in the Pacific, Feightner became an ace with nine confirmed kills, 4
probable's, and 9 more aircraft damaged. He flew with VF-5 from the carrier Yorktown
during the Battle of Midway, and took part in many of the key battles in the Pacific, from
Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima. After the war he became a test pilot and a member of the elite
Blue Angels flying team. He worked on design and development of later navy fighters, the
F-14 and F-18, retiring in 1972 as a rear admiral. Minor surface creases. Corners lightly worn
and creased. Ink stamp on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
