RED AUERBACH & NEW JERSEY NETS
The NBA Hall of Famer, three Nets first round draft picks and two other Nets sign a 5x8 album page.
Signatures: "Red Auerbach", "Albert King/#55", and on verso "Len Elmore", "Eddie Phillips/#51", "Buck/Williams" and "Mike O'Koren". With 4 unidentified signatures. 1 page (front and verso), 5x8. RED AUERBACH (1917-2006) was the third winningest coach (regular season and playoffs) in NBA history. He won 1,037 games in 20 years. As Coach-GM, Auerbach led the Boston Celtics to nine NBA titles, including eight in a row (1959-1966). The NBA Coach of the Year award is named after him. Auerbach remained Celtics General Manager (1967-1984) and President (1984-2006). As GM he assembled two more dynasties: the two-time champion team of the early and mid-1970s, and the three-time champions of the early 1980s led by Byrd, Parrish and McHale. Auerbach was an integration pioneer, recruiting the first black player (1950) and the first all-black starting lineup (1964). Celtics fans knew a game was won when Red lighted one of his famous "victory cigars." He was enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1967. LEN ELMORE (b. 1952) played in the ABA for 2 seasons and NBA for 8 seasons with the Indiana Pacers (1974-1979), Kansas City Kings (1979-1980), Milwaukee Bucks (1980-1981), New Jersey Nets (1981-1983) and New York Knicks (1983-1984). A center and forward, his career statistics include 1,627 field goals, 582 steals, 674 blocks and 3,360 rebounds. He later worked as an analyst for ESPN, CBS and ABC. EDDIE PHILLIPS (b. 1961) was drafted in the first round of the 1982 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets after a successful college career at the University of Alabama. A forward, he played for the Nets for one season (1982-1983). Phillips later spent time playing in Italy, Spain, Israel and Argentina. 3-time All-Star forward and center Charles Linwood "BUCK" WILLIAMS (b. 1960), played the first 8 of his 17 seasons with the New Jersey Nets. He played in every game in 5 of those seasons. In 1982, he was selected as the NBA Rookie of the Year. MIKE O'KOREN was drafted as the sixth overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets. He played in the NBA for 8 seasons with the New Jersey Nets (1980-1986, 1987-1988) and Washington Bullets (1986-1987). He later served as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Nets and as Head Coach of the Washington Wizards (2005-2008). ALBERT KING (b. 1959) was drafted as the tenth overall pick in the 1981 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets. He played in the NBA for 9 seasons with the New Jersey Nets (1981-1987), Philadelphia 76ers (1987-1988), San Antonio Spurs (1988-1989) and Washington Bullets (1991-1992). Toned at edges. Lightly frayed at left edge. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
