The actor is given an advance on his salary while a location for a movie is being found
Document Signed: "Red Morgan" as Employee, 1p, 7x4. Durango, Mexico, 1968 March 24. Paramount Pictures Corporation form, headed: "Location Salary Advance Voucher". Form filled in by Henry Renshaw, Auditor. Cast member Morgan receives a $100 (12500.00 Pesos) advance on his salary while on location in Durango, Mexico. This voucher is likely for the 1968 Paramount film, Five Card Stud, in which Morgan played Fred Carson. The film was directed by Henry Hathaway, who would direct Morgan in 1969's True Grit. In 1968, Morgan also made The Stalking Moon. Boyd "Red" Morgan (1916-1988) began his career as a stunt man in 1937. An expert horseman, Morgan doubled for several top Western stars, including John Wayne and his protégé, James Arness. Morgan worked as both a stuntman and an actor in a long list of feature films, including The Kettles on Old MacDonald's Farm (1957), Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (1957), Pillow Talk (1959), Spartacus (1960), The Alamo (1960), How the West Was Won (1962), The Sons of Katie Elder (1965), The War Wagon (1967), The Cheyenne Social Club (1970) and Rio Lobo (1970). He also appeared in several made-for-TV movies and the miniseries, Captains and the Kings, and made guest appearances on dozens of TV shows, from The Range Rider (1952) to Kung Fu (1975), including multiple appearances on The Roy Rogers Show, The Cisco Kid, Boots and Saddles, The Texan and other Westerns.
