Check no. 2390 drawn on his joint account with third wife Alicia Buttons (née Pratt) at the City National Bank, Beverly Hills, California. Made payable to Hound Dog for $4.98. Memo indicates the check is for 'Elvis Presley Albums'. Born Aaron Chwatt, Red Buttons (1919-2006) got his nickname while working as a singing bellhop in a Bronx tavern. His TV show was a big hit in its first season (1952), his performance landing him on the cover of Time magazine. Buttons won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actorfor Sayonara (1957), and earned nominations for the Best Supporting Actor Oscarfor Harlow (1965) and They Shoot Horses, Don't They (1969). Slightly creased. Bank stamps touch writing on front, not affecting legibility. Ink note (unknown hand) at upper margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
