Check no. 2245 drawn on his joint account with third wife, Alicia Buttons (née Pratt) at the City National Bank, Beverly Hills, California. Made payable to Ultra Cleaners for $17.10. Memo indicates the check is for "tux's". Born Aaron Chwatt, Red Buttons (1919-2006) got his nickname while working as a singing bellhop in a Bronx tavern. His TV show was a big hit in its first season (1952), his performance landing him on the cover of Time magazine. Buttons won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actorfor Sayonara (1957), and earned nominations for the Best Supporting Actor Oscarfor Harlow (1965) and They Shoot Horses, Don't They (1969). Folded in half and unfolded. Bank stamps on verso, with light show-through to front, not affecting signature. Ink notes in an unknown hand toward center portion of top edge.
