Printing. To the left of his drawing of one of his trademark "cactus people", the Pulitzer
Prize-winning cartoonist has written: "Didja/Know?/Cactuses/Is Like/Some
O'/Them-Thar/Cartoonists/- They Can/Go Years/Without/Drinkin'/Water". Reginald Manning
(1905-1986) was an editorial cartoonist with the "Arizona Republic" for 50 years, beginning in
1926. Best known for his whimsical cactus people (who also adorn his line of souvenir
tablecloths and postcards introduced in 1939) and other denizens of the desert, Manning won
the 1951 Pulitzer Prize for his cartoon, "Hats". No dust jacket. Cover slightly soiled and
worn. Signature page lightly shaded at blank left edge. Fine condition.
