Reginald "Reg" Manning (1905-1986) was an editorial cartoonist with the "Arizona
Republic" for 50 years, beginning in 1926. Best known for his whimsical cactus people
who illustrated his book What Kinda Cactus is That?, and his line of souvenir tablecloths and
postcards introduced in 1939). Manning won the 1951 Pulitzer Prize for his cartoon,
"Hats", which contrasted the top hats of diplomats meeting in Geneva with the helmet of yet
another casualty of the war still being waged in Korea. Ink note and pencil note (unknown
hand) on verso. Fine condition.
