Document signed "Theron C. Liddle" and "Harold Blake Walker". 1p, 8½x11, Salt Lake City, Utah, 1968 November 27. On letterhead of the Deseret News to Harold Blake Walker, Evanston, Illinois. In full: "I am preparing for publication a collection of philosophical inspirational and humorous quotations to be nationally districubed. I would like your permission to use this quot attributed to you, to be used in the following manner: 'Yesterday's mistakes and failures can teach us wisdom, and yesterday's triumphs can suggest what is possible. We can make the year ahead glorious.' -Harold Blake Walker. It would be published as shown above. If you do not hold the copyright on this material, would you please forward this request to the proper copyright holder, then to be returned to me. An early reply would be appreciated." Walker has signed at bottom after the phrase: "Reprint approval granted" LIDDLE, managing editor of the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Utah,published a series of books called A Thought For Today, with quotations by famous people. WALKER (1904-2002) dispensed religiously inspired practical wisdom in a nationally syndicated newspaper column and in a several books, including Power to Manage Yourself (1955) and Venture and Faith: a Guide to Marriage and the Home (with his wife Mary Alice, 1959). Walker promoted racial integration and the establishment of a multi-denominational National Church Center in Washington, D.C. Light crease, staple holes and paperclip impression in upper left corner.
