Signed lobby card for the 1950 film Under Mexicali Stars
Lobby Card signed: "Rex Allen", in black felt tip, color, 14x11. Pictured in his starring role in the film Under Mexicali Stars (1950). Singing cowboy Rex Allen (1920-1999) appeared on stage, rodeo, and radio (National Barn Dance) before beginning his film career. In a span of five years (1949-1954) he made more than 20 Westerns, many featuring sidekick Slim Pickens and Allen's horse Ko Ko. He starred in TV's Frontier Doctor (1956). He was the narrator in many Disney films, including The Incredible Journey (1963) and Charlotte's Web (1973). Under Mexicali Stars was one of Allen's first starring roles, after Republic Pictures hired him as a potential replacement for Roy Rogers. Buddy Ebsen - not Pickens - was Allen's comedic sidekick in this film, Dorothy Patrick his leading lady. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
