REX BEACH
For a royalty payment of $100, he authorizes NBC-Radio to perform and adaptation of his drama "Cool Waters"
Contract signed: "Rex Beach", 1 page, 8½x11. New York, N.Y., 1946 May 22. Beach authorizes NBC to perform an adaptation of his work "Cool Waters" on the Olmsted Playhouse program on or within eight weeks of June 6, 1946, in exchange for a $100 royalty payment. Permission is given for a single broadcast only, and Beach attests that he has not given similar authorization to any other broadcasting station or network for the same time period. Also signed by a representative of NBC. Rex Beach (1877-1949) was a best-selling author of 14 adventure novels set in the Northwest, some of which were made into films. The most successful of these novels, The Spoilers, was made into a feature film three times, starring respectively Gary Cooper (1930), John Wayne (1942) and Jeff Chandler (1953). Beach committed suicide in 1949. Creased with multiple mailing folds. Paper clip impression at top edge. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
