RICH GEDMAN
The Red Sox star batter signs 1985 sports card in blue ink
Trading/sports card signed: "Rich Gedman" in blue ink. 2½x3½ Donruss trading card with photo of Gedman on the front and player stats on verso. Rich Gedman (b. 1959) caught in the Major Legues for 13 seasons (1980-1992), the first 10½ seasons with the Boston Red Sox. An All-Star in 1985 and 1986, Gedman went 5 for 5, including a homer, in the infamous Game Five of the 1986 World Series against the New York Mets. Injuries and holdouts diminished Gedman's skills in his later seasons. Since leaving the field, Gedman has managed and coached in the Red Sox farm system. After 5 seasons managing the Worcester Tornadoes, he became hitting coach for the Salem Red Sox in 2012. Gedman has an athletic family: his wife Sherry pitched two softball no-hitters for the University of Connecticut; his daughter Marissa plays ice hockey for Harvard; and his sons Michael and Matthew are minor league players in the Red Sox system. Corners and edges rounded. Lightly toned. Fine condition.
