Original Art unsigned, The artist draws a female character from his 5th Wave comic strip, 6½x3¾. Also signed: "J M Fournier", as Commanding Officer of the USCGC Burton Island. Drawn on a commemorative envelope honoring the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Burton Island, postmarked Burton Island, September 12, 1975, 10-cent U.S. Stamp affixed. Cartoonist RICH TENNANT was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947. In 1980, he became the weekly editorial cartoonist for the magazine Computerworld, and soon after he became the editorial cartoonist for Federal Computer World. Often called "the father of the computer cartoon", his long running cartoon series The 5th Wave has appeared in syndicated to newspapers through Universal Press Syndicate. He drew the illustrations for the book DOS for Dummies (1991), and his cartoons have continued to be featured throughout the popular book series. Captain J.M. FOURNIER was commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Burton Island from June 1975 to May 1977. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
