Program Signed: "Richard Barthelmess," in black ink, 6 pages, 6x3¼. The Plaza Theatre, New York City [for the week beginning] Thursday, January 16, 1936. The Plaza Theatre, which opened in 1930, featured films by well-known actors and actresses, including Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Noel Coward. Richard Barthelmess (1895-1963) quit films to join the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1942, the year his last film, The Mayor of 44th St. was released, and never returned to Hollywood. He had first starred in silent movies and was nominated for the first Academy Award for Best Actor for 1927-1928 for his performances in two films, The Noose and The Patent Leather Kid. Toned. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
