Typed Letter signed: "Richard Barthelmess", 1 page, 8½x11. New York City, 1930 October 22. On letterhead of the law firm of O'Brien, Malevinsky and Driscoll to Chet Vanderlip, Bank of Italy, Hollywood, California. In full: "I hereby request that you revoke the authority of DALLAS SQUIRE to have access to my safe deposit box in your bank, as well as cancelling the Power of Attorney which he has heretofore had. For your information, I am writing to Mr. Squire to this affect. Very truly yours". Richard Barthelmess (1895-1963) starred in silent movies and was nominated for the first Academy Award for Best Actor for 1927-1928 for his performances in two films, The Noose and The Patent Leather Kid. He quit films to join the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1942, the year his last film, The Mayor of 44th St. was released, and never returned to Hollywood, retiring from acting. Multiple mailing folds. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
