RICHARD BURTON, HUGH LATIMER and PETER MURRAY
Album leaf signed by all three
Signatures: "Richard Burton", "Best wishes/Hugh Latimer" and "Peter Murray", 7¼x4½ album leaf. Unidentified signature on verso. RICHARD BURTON (1925-1984), a Welsh stage and screen actor with a magnificent voice, received seven Oscar nominations (for My Cousin Rachel, 1952; The Robe, 1953, Becket, 1964, The Spy Who Came In From the Cold ,1965; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, 1966; Anne of the Thousand Days, 1969; and Equus, 1977), all but the first of these as Best Actor. Burton may be best remembered, however, for his tempestuous romances, failed marriages and movie pairings with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he met on the set of Cleopatra (1963). English stage actor HUGH LATIMER (1913-2006) began appearing in films after his wartime military service. Starring roles included Corridor of Mirrors (1948) and Last Man to Hang (1956). His final screen appearance was in Masterpiece Theater's adaptation of Jane Eyre (1971). PETER MURRAY (b. 1925), an occasional stage and screen actor, is best known for more than 50 years as a British radio and television disc jockey. He claimed that the cancellation of his BBC-TV show in 1983 was the result of his outspoken support of the Conservative Party. He was soon back on the air on another station. He came out of retirement in 2008 to begin hosting a program on UK Light Radio.
