Inscribed signature: "To Freddie./Richard Burton", 5x3¼ piece of paper. Newspaper photo (b/w, 1¼x1¼) affixed in lower right. Burton (1925-1984), a Welsh stage and screen actor with a magnificent voice, received seven Oscar nominations (for My Cousin Rachel, 1952; The Robe, 1953, Becket, 1964, The Spy Who Came In From the Cold ,1965; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, 1966; Anne of the Thousand Days, 1969; and Equus, 1977), all but the first of these as Best Actor. Burton may be best remembered, however, for his tempestuous romances, failed marriages and movie pairings with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he met on the set of Cleopatra (1963). Faint pencil erasure in upper left. Dark toned block (1¼x1¼) in lower right from item formerly affixed on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
