The popular stage and screen actor signs this slip of light blue paper
Signature: “Richard Carle” in iron gall ink, 7x7¼. He signed on what is possibly his
personalized stationery, adorned with an ornate “RC” at the upper left-hand corner. Printed
photo of the actor, b/w, 1¼x1¼ affixed at left. Richard Carle (1871-1941) was an American
actor. A veteran of the stage for 30 years, Carle went on to appear in many movies and
shorts such as The Understanding Heart (1927), The Ghost Walks (1934), She's Dangerous
(1937), Comin' Round the Mountain (1940), and Million Dollar Baby (1941). From 1915
to 1941 he appeared in a total of 132 films. Heavily toned. Corners and edges worn.
Mounting remnants on verso, with show-through to front not greatly affecting signature.
Right and bottom edges have been neatly and evenly torn to current size. Otherwise, fine
condition.
