Lankford (1914-2003) was a Democratic U.S. congressman from Maryland who served
in the U.S. House from 1955 to 1965. He earned both his bachelor's degree as well as his
LL.B. from the University of Maryland. Following his admission to the bar, Lankford began
practicing law and managing several tobacco and cattle farms. From 1942 to 1946, he served
in the United States Naval Reserve. After becoming a member of the Maryland House of
Delegates (1948-1954), Lankford was eventually elected to the 84th Congress as well as the
four Congresses that followed. Tiny nicks from typewriter on verso (no show-through).
