RICHARD EGAN
Signed b/w photo of actor Richard Egan from the waist up in chainmail and a tunic and with his hand on a sheathed sword
Inscribed photograph signed "To Jim/Richard Egan". Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand.B/w, 8x10 overall, 7¼x9¼ image, one surface. American actor Egan (1921-1987) was a judo instructor for the U. S. Army during World War II, so it's probably no surprise that he became a frequent sight in adventure films from the 1950s to 1980s. He had a total of 70 film and TV shows on his resume between 1950 and 1987, with most of his starring roles coming in the mid-1950s and 1960s. Egan was also a fair-to-middlin' dramatic actor, with notable appearances with Elvis Presley in his first film Love Me Tender (1956) and in Split Second (1953), A View from Pompey's Head (1955), Slaughter on 10th Avenue (1957), A Summer Place (1959), Pollyanna (1960) and opposite Joan Collins in Esther and the King (1960). He appeared frequently on TV in the 1960s and 1970s, most notably as Jim Redigo in Empire (1962-1963, renamed Redigo after his character in 1963). Egan spent most of his last decade in dinner theatre throughout the U. S. Lightly toned, silvered, cracked, creased and bowed. Signature is lightly smeared and has low contrast, but is legible. Rounded bottom corners. Otherwise in fine condition.
