form for computing membership dues. Fleischer has listed both his gross
earnings for 1966 and his estimated earnings for 1967 to be "Maximum".
Membership dues were computed at one percent of gross annually, with maximum
dues being $1,000 annually. Fleischer, who was twice nominated as Best
Director by the Directors Guild of America, Inc. (The Vikings, 1958;
Compulsion, 1959), directed Fantastic Voyage in 1966 and Think
Twentieth and Dr. Doolittle in 1967. The son of animator Max
Fleischer (Popeye, Betty Boop), Richard Fleischer (1916-2006), who won an
Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for Design for Death
(1947), later directed such films as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954),
The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing (1955), Fantastic Voyage (1966),
Dr. Dolittle (1967), The Boston Strangler (1968), Che!
(1969), Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), The New Centurions (1972),
Soylent Green (1973), Mr. Majestyk (1974), Mandingo (1975),
Ashanti (1979), The Jazz Singer (1980), Amityville 3-D
(1983) and Conan the Destroyer (1984). Fleischer, who was the licensee
of his dad's cartoon creation, Betty Boop, published his autobiography,
Just Tell Me When to Cry, in 1994. Lightly creased with folds, not at
signature. Receipt stamps and ink initials (unknown hands) at lower portion.
