famed mentalist
Autograph Note signed: "To Elsie -/with best wishes -/Richard
Greene", 4½x6 album leaf. Dashing British leading man
Richard Greene (1918-1985) starred in films from 1938, including
Kentucky (1938), Don't Take it to Heart (1944), Forever
Amber (1947) and Lorna Doone (1951). He played the title role in
the long-running British TV series, The Adventures of Robin Hood, and
in a feature film. Harry Carp, who employed the stage name of Myrus, was a
renowned "mentalist" with a remarkable gift for answering questions posed by
members of the audience. His wife, Melba Merriam, who went by Elsie Myrus
when acting as his assistant, collected autographs from celebrities attending
his performances. This autograph was part of her collection. Binding holes
at left edge. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
